Install the charging stations

Jean-Nicolas Turlier Updated by Jean-Nicolas Turlier

This article describes the on-site installation of electric vehicle charging stations. For this equipment to work, configuration on the Climkit platform is also required. Links are available at the end of the document.

1. Preparing the charging station

Climkit supplies a 22 kW charging station, depending on availability the ABB Terra AC or the Hager Witty Pro.

In order for the charging station to connect immediately to the Climkit platform, it is delivered preconfigured with:

  • Connection mode (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
  • Preconfigured SSID and password
  • Climkit Gateway IP address
Each ABB Terra AC charging station comes with a unique PIN code located in the box.
Be careful not to lose it: it is essential for configuring the charging station.

Always refer to the charging station manufacturer's instructions.

2. Installation

  1. Install and connect the charging station according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Connect the power supply via a circuit breaker (requires an electrical installer): a 3P+N Type A RCD circuit breaker for the ABB Terra AC, a standard circuit breaker for the Hager Witty Pro, whose 30 mA residual current protection is built into the charging station. Type B or EV circuit breakers are not required.
  3. The 22 kW charging stations can be connected at 32 A, 25 A, 16 A, or 10 A. In practice, 16 A is sufficient for most vehicles.
  4. The charging station is connected to the IT network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi; if it is planned to connect it to the IP network via cable, connect the charging station's RJ45 port to the router.

The charging station can be installed on a single or double metal pedestal (two charging stations back to back). The pedestal is specific to the charging station model.

It is recommended to verify the installation, see Verification of EV charging stations from the platform.
