Heating and water meters
1. Thermal and water meters
Thermal meters and water meters are installed directly on a pipe.
A water meter measures the flow rate (m³) circulating in the pipe.
A thermal meter measures the flow rate as well as the inlet and outlet temperatures of the circuit, which it then converts into energy (kWh).
The nominal size of a meter (DN) is determined by its measuring chamber and not by its connection section.
Ex. A DN20 meter has a 1" thread on the meter, which means that the fitting screwed onto it for the pipe is 3/4".

Meters of the same DN also have the same length.
Comparative table of DN sizes
Nominal size | Meter thread | Length | Flow rate | Screwed connection thread |
DN 15 | 3/4" | 110 mm | 2.5 m³/h | 1/2" |
DN 20 | 1" | 130 mm | 4 m³/h | 3/4" |
DN 25 | 1 1/4" | 260 mm | 6.3 m³/h | 1" |
DN 32 | 1 1/2" | 260 mm | 10 m³/h | 1 1/4" |
DN 40 | 2" | 300 mm | 16 m³/h | 1 1/2" |
DN 50 | 2 1/2" | 300 mm | 25 m³/h | 2" |
To communicate with the Climkit Gateway, all meters must be equipped with a wired MBus communication module.
Here are some examples of standard heating and water meters:
2. Thermal meters for heat or cooling
Integra Amtron S3U Meter
- Ultrasonic (heat and cooling) battery-powered (10-year lifespan)
- No wear or other issues like with mechanical versions.
- Primarily used for apartments.
- Usually used in DN15 or DN20. Also available in DN25.

Models for heat (DN15 and DN20)
- AMTRON S3U_15_1.5_110_G3/4_BM_h – 97154
- AMTRON S3U_20_2.5_130_G1_BM_h - 97155
Models for heat and cooling (DN15 and DN20)
These meters have two indices (kWh heat and kWh cold).
They increment respectively if the temperature difference between the two probes is positive or negative.
- AMTRON S3U_15_1.5_110_G3/4_BM_hc – 97174
- AMTRON S3U_20_2.5_130_G1_BM_hc - 97175
Models for cooling (DN15 and DN20)
- AMTRON S3U_15_1.5_110_G3/4_BM_c – 97190
- AMTRON S3U_20_2.5_130_G1_BM_c - 97191
DN25 or larger
For DN32 or larger, use the Sonic D.
The Sonic D is powered by 230V (no battery).
Generally used for measurements at the boiler outlet, in CAD substations, and for domestic hot water production.

3. Hot water (DHW) or cold water (CW) meters
DHW and CW meters are the same.
Surface-mounted water meter (DN15 and DN20)
- SAPHIR Modularis ETW 15 1.5_110_G3/4 BM – 95148
- SAPHIR Modularis ETW 20 2.5_130_G1 BM – 95149

Coaxial water meter for flush mounting
- SAPHIR Modularis MTW IE koax 1.5 BM – 95142

Available accessories: extension piece (if too far from the wall) and decorative escutcheon

Example of mounting system for flush-mounted meter:

Datasheet: Saphir Modularis meter
Mounting Guide: Saphir Modularis surface-mounted

Water meter DN25 or larger
For DN25 or larger, use the PMK-aquabasic
Ideal for high flow rates such as irrigation.
Note: 3 types depending on mounting:
- Horizontal
- Vertical descending
- Vertical ascending
Supplied with screwed connection kit and MBus communication module.

4. MBus Converter
The MBus-RS485 converter allows connecting MBus meters to the Climkit Gateway.
